Wood fired pizza making

Wood fired pizza making

W0od fired pizza making is a fun and unique way to make pizza. There’s something special about cooking pizza in a wood-fired oven that creates a superior flavor and texture. Plus, the process of making the dough and selecting toppings can be a fun activity to do with friends or family.

First, you’ll need to make your pizza dough from scratch. A basic dough recipe typically includes flour, yeast, salt, and water. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic, then let it rest for at least an hour to rise put it away covered with plastic or in a dough box so it ferments and taste and performs better. I like three days myself ! When its ready, gather your favorite toppings. The possibilities are endless, but some popular options include tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, sliced vegetables, cured meats, and fresh herbs. You can make anything so get creative and have fun!

Making wood fired pizza at home requires a few key elements:  quality pizza ingredients, and patience. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Invest in the  correct oven That depends on what you like to cook and for how many people  we have  several options , including small tabletop models and large family ovens. Decide what works best for your space and budget. Then the fun begins !

  2. Prepare the dough: Use a mix of high-quality flour, water, salt, and yeast. Mix together all ingredients until the dough is elastic and smooth. Cover and let it rest for several hours until it has doubled in size. Check our blogs and videos for all types of fun recipes

  3. Gather your ingredients: Choose high-quality ingredients such as San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and fresh herbs. Have them prepared and within reach.

  4. Heat the oven: Preheat the oven  by building the fire on the floor , a hot floor is always first and use good wood!

  5. Stretch and shape the dough: On a floured surface, stretch and shape the dough into a thin circle or oval see our videos

  6. Add the toppings: Spread tomato sauce over the dough, then add fresh mozzarella, toppings, and fresh herbs.

  7. Cook the pizza: Using a long-handled pizza peel, slide the pizza into the oven. Cook for 1-2 minutes, while rotating the pie so it does not burn! That might take a little practice so have a couple of spare doughs the first time you start and just use sauce as a test pie!

  8. Enjoy: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade wood-fired pizza!

  • I just cooked my first pizza in my new Forno Bello pizza oven. I couldn't be happier! I did A LOT of research before buying, and it was apparent to me that, not only was this the highest quality oven, but the company is one I could have confidence in and feel really good about supporting. I chose the Grande X, which works for me, but I'm sure my experience applies to all of their ovens. Find the one that works for you. As I was shopping, I had some questions. They were answered surprisingly quickly. These folks are experts, and their love and enthusiasm for cooking and helping others succeed is apparent. After I got the oven, I emailed another question, and Scot (the owner) called me a few minutes later. In addition to answering the question, we had a very nice chat for several minutes. I don’t write many reviews. But, I endorse this product and Backyard Brick Ovens without reservation. The products are amazing, and the people are just as wonderful. If you are debating a purchase here vs somewhere else, I assure you that you can't go wrong with a Forno Bello oven.

  • I have the extra-large Neapolitan oven and I am pleased with the quality of the oven. It is well built and very heavy, I had to make a hoist to get it onto the cart. I cooked 10 pizzas and 2 loaves of bread on the first day that I used the oven and got great reviews from my family and friends. I am looking forward to cooking different types of recipes in the oven. Scott was great to work with, I highly recommend Back Yard Brick Ovens to anyone looking for a wood fired oven.

  • Incredible ovens! My family has always been searching for a great pizza oven for our backyards and all I can say is WOW! Let me start off by telling you that all of my family owns pizza shops and has for the last 35 years, so novices we are not. We were very excited to see what this little backyard oven could do. My god! Did a better pizza just come out of this oven then at my shop? Are you kidding me!!!!!!! My brother-in-law and I were floored! The crust developed perfectly and the toppings melted right into the sauce. We cooked up some red, green, and yellow bell peppers ahead of time in a cast iron pan in the oven before throwing them on the pie. Did I mention I’m not really a fan of peppers? But something magical happened in this oven between the Smokey wood and the heat turbulence in the dome of the oven I’m guessing. Or maybe it’s some magic at this point, I just can’t be sure. Anyways, now that I love peppers on my pizza I can stand here and say, this oven has got it all. Simplicity for the novice, and the seriousness of a modern pizza chef. I wish I would have gotten one sooner from you guys. Donald LeMay Stone Fired Piizza
